poltergeists

Poltergeists are generally thought of as mischievous spirits who have been angered by some wrongdoing. They are primarily thought of as being a child, or the spirit of a dead child. They are often overlooked because they are often not seen, but can cause damage to property in their rage, or disruption".

If you have ever seen any of the horror movies involving a poltergeist you know that they make for some very good entertainment. A poltergeist is an unseen entity that causes some sort of physical disturbance and has been known to be mischievous and disruptive.

Poltergeists are often associated with young people, and usually, there is a lack of knowledge or understanding of the activity due to the secretive nature of a poltergeist's actions. They sometimes attach themselves to children or young teens but have been known to affect adults as well. There have been documented cases of poltergeist activity, occurring more than once in a house where dwellers have a disdain for one another.

poltergeists

The term poltergeist has German roots; it means "noisy ghost." In modern times, this word is used as both a noun and an adjective (as in poltergeist activity), while in older times it was only used as an adjective. Poltergeist activity may have religious or spiritual origins, a belief that the activity is caused by ghosts or the spirits of the dead, or demonic possession.

Some researchers believe that poltergeists are usually associated with the tragic deaths of young children. In some cases, these incidents have been reported to be witnessed by family members or friends who witnessed the death of a child and later began to experience feelings of guilt. One widely accepted hypothesis is that these individuals unconsciously blame themselves for the accidental death of their child and begin experiencing poltergeist-like activity in order to alleviate their guilt and cope with their remorse regarding an unexplained tragedy. However, it is scientifically impossible to explain any Poltergeist phenomenon with sadistic elements.

Poltergeist activity can be focused on a person(s) or on a specific object(s). The poltergeist may attempt to influence the environment in which it resides or also focuses its energy elsewhere. The way the poltergeist manifests its presence can vary from an instance of extremely loud banging and slamming, to merely throwing random objects about the room. In extreme cases, poltergeists have been known to throw items into waist-high fireplaces or drown children in water-filled bathtubs.

Most poltergeists display a great deal of anger towards the people, places, and things that they are angry with. Poltergeists tend to be very vindictive, striking out at those who have wronged it. Some poltergeist activity, in particular the manifestation of mischievous actions, may be linked to mental illness. "Poltergeist activity has been linked to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and schizophrenia."

One theory that is regularly brought up in the press regarding poltergeists states that they are a form of "reincarnation", or coming back to physical life as a result of unfinished business with one's past life. In such instances, they will sometimes manifest in the same house from which they were born or died; in other situations, a new house has been selected due to an established link.

Theories that seek to demonstrate that poltergeists are a physical manifestation have been developed. Physicist Joseph R. Michelli proposed the plasma vortex theory in the September 1989 edition of the journal Physical Review A. Michelli stated that due to the lack of any conclusive evidence, no theory should be taken as being correct, but advancement in technology may allow for more specific testing of particular theories in the future.

Many cases exist where there is a great deal of activity and seemingly intelligent actions are being performed when there is no person or entity present within sight or sound. Poltergeists often cause damage to property, such as the levitation of objects and their subsequent crashing into walls. They have also been known to throw objects such as glasses, cups of coffee, or even chairs at people who are attempting to examine the phenomenon. Many times, they have been known to cause damage to electronic equipment by throwing them around rooms.

Another possibility is that a poltergeist shows up in one's house and begins causing disturbances and destruction for no reason or explanation. It is possible that the poltergeist is a natural occurrence in one's home and sometimes has no intention to interact with humans.

Other reports claim that they are visited by poltergeists and even animated objects themselves. It is also a common belief that videos and photographs are sometimes altered by the presence of a poltergeist. Many have learned to be aware of the presence of a poltergeist when they experience strange or unexplainable events taking place in their homes.

Some believe that a poltergeist is an actual spirit that takes on human characteristics, such as anger, frustration, or other emotions and feelings. Experts speculate that it is just this innate human trait that causes the headstrong adolescent spirit to take action in order to express itself physically on earth.
