Dowsing

Dowsing is a method of finding water, lost items, or sources of magnetism such as metal ore deposits using a forked stick, divining rod, or pendulum. Dowsing can be used to locate lost objects and water. Dowsers say the procedure works by different types of energy called "vibrations" created by the riverbed adjusting in response to their efforts in an effort to foil them. Critics have said it is all an elaborate scam and there is no scientific explanation for how it works- other than intuition and coincidence.

Probably the most famous historical dowser is William Bakewell, a correspondent of the famous scientist Michael Faraday, who died in 1834. In his book, The Art of Dowsing (1879) Bakewell described how he had successfully dowsed for water while teaching school, and for lost gold during his travels in Mexico.

Dowsing

How to use DOWSING RODS to talk to ghosts/spirits? According to a new craze for ghost hunting, dowsing rods can be used while searching for paranormal activity. The rods are able to detect ghosts and spirits in a similar way to how they are used for locating water and precious metals. The dowsing rods are most commonly made from Y-shaped twigs from a willow tree tied together with a cord. By holding the sticks in his or her hands and letting them swing freely, a dowser will believe he or she can sense the presence of ghosts and spirits. According to some ghost hunters, dowsing rods can also be used in place of electronic equipment such as digital thermometers and EMF meters (radar guns).

The dowsing rods have been part of the human toolkit for thousands of years. They were traditionally used by farmers to find water when digging a well and they were also said to help locate minerals and precious metals. It was only a matter of time before the dowsing rods started being used by ghost hunters too. The use of the dowsing rods is described by Pete Moss, a UK-based paranormal investigator: "Dowsing is when you walk around with two Y-shaped twigs or metal rods, which are held at the crooks.

How does it feel? Dowsing rods are said to feel like an electrical current flowing through your body when they come into contact with ghosts, spirits, or even aliens. When dowsing for water using the rods they will typically 'jump' towards the source of the water which will help you dig a well or borehole without wasting too much time searching around.

The best way to use them is to hold them loosely by the ends and let them swing freely. By keeping your mind in a calm state and not overthinking what you are doing, you can get some pretty amazing results. Simply as the ghosts some questions. When you want to ask, hold either end of the rod upright and think of what you would like to know. See what happens.

The rods will move in response to your questions!

The rods will not only move when you ask it a question but will also move when a spirit comes to help you and indicate his presence. If they are moving, ask for an indication of their presence and then stop asking questions, let them move freely while you watch for a few minutes to see if they keep moving or stop. Every how long you leave them to see if they stop or rattle but still start moving again with the same vigor as before.

There are many ways to use dowsing rods.

The method that seems to work best for me is holding the ends of the rods in a relaxed and steady manner. I see many people using devices that hold the ends with a clamp, but this is not effective in my opinion and can allow for a lot of variation. In order to get clear results, you need the rods to move freely (not held by something or someone else).

Another method that I have tried (and had some success with) is asking questions verbally while holding the rods up in front of you. It has been especially good at determining who is present in the room.

One final method that I have found to work well is to ask for indications of who is present and let the rods move freely (without being held by something) throughout a long period of time (at least an hour). That way you can check to see if your question was answered by looking again at the movement.

I also recommend trying each of these methods over a period of time and seeing if there are differences in results. For me, what works best is asking questions verbally while holding the rods up in front of me and then just letting them hang after they have stopped moving naturally.
